We treat patients of all ages and have been a part of this community for over 55 years. Dr. Edmond and Joseph Stout founded the practice in 1962 .While they have since retired, their tradition of excellence continues through with our amazing doctors.
Born and raised in Newark, Dr. Joseph Stout’s son Jeffrey joined Newark Dental Associates in 1993. Dr. Jeffrey is a 1981 graduate of St. Mark’s High School and a 1986 graduate of the University of Delaware. He received his doctorate from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1992. Dr. Jeff completed a one year General Practice Residency at Yale University affiliate, St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1993. Dr. Stout is a member of the Delaware State Dental Society and the American Dental Association. Dr. Jeff and his wife Rachelle have two children, Grace and Joseph.
Dr. Rei-Yang Hsu was born in Taiwan and moved to the United States at the age of 10; he is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Dr. Hsu grew up in Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, with Cum Laude honors in Biology. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland in 2016, where he earned additional Implant training through an Implant clerkship program. He graduated as a recipient of the Dean’s Award for community service and a member of Gorgas Odontological Honors Society. Dr. Hsu completed his Residency at Christiana Care Hospital Systems and is currently a faculty attendee for current GPR residents. He joined Newark Dental Associates in 2017. Dr. Hsu is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Delaware State Dental Society and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Hsu currently resides in Newark, DE and enjoys playing tennis, basketball and traveling with his wife and son.
Dr. Choi was raised in Montgomery County, Maryland, and graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry with honors, inducted as a member of the Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society and Gorgas Odontological Honor Society. Dr. Choi continued with further training at Christiana Care Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware for a General Practice Residency Program. During this training, she treated dental patients in a hospital setting as well as completed rotations in anesthesia and oral surgery. She returned to the University of Maryland School of Dentistry where she completed her Periodontics specialty training. While completing her studies, she conducted research on various bone graft materials under her mentor Dr. Hanae Saito – the research has been presented at national conferences including the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research as well as the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Periodontists. Outside of the office, Dr. Choi enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Kwan Ngai was born in Hong Kong and moved to the United States with her family when she was young. She grew up in Baltimore and has since been living in the Maryland region. She completed her undergraduate study in Biochemistry at the University of Maryland College Park. After working in the Biotechnology field on vaccine research, Dr. Kwan Ngai decided to pursue dentistry at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. After dental school, she went on to complete a general practice residency at Christiana Care in Delaware, where she was treating medically compromised patients. Dr. Kwan Ngai brings her passion for dentistry and her philosophy of patient-centered care to Newark Dental Associates. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is a volunteer faculty at Christiana Care. She is a member in multiple organizations, including the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Kwan Ngai strives to provide excellent care for her patients and constantly improves her craft with continuous education. She is fluent in Cantonese, English and can understand Mandarin. In her spare time, she loves to volunteer, spend time with her families, and travel around the world.
Dr. Madeleine Taylor was born and raised in Newark, Delaware. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware before completing her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry. Wanting to give back to the community she grew up in, Dr. Taylor returned home to complete her General Practice Residency at ChristianaCare Health System.
Dr. Maddy is excited to join Newark Dental Associates, where she looks forward to building lasting relationships with patients and providing individualized, comfortable care in a practice that has been part of the Newark community for decades.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Maddy enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, walking, and relaxing in nature. She is a devoted local sports fan—especially of the Eagles and Phillies—and loves sharing time with friends and family, exploring new cultures, and trying different foods.
