Cleaning and Prevention

Regular checkups and prophylactic cleanings are your first line of defense against dental problems. Major costly dental treatments can be avoided with a proactive attitude. Comprehensive dental examinations with necessary x-rays allows our doctors to diagnose and provide appropriate dental treatment. Preventive treatments such as sealants and fluoride varnish can help protect against tooth decay. With proper home care instruction and preventive strategies, we can help our patients avoid unexpected dental problems.

All our doctors and staff keep up to date with current treatment modalities by regularly attending continuing education courses. Our state of the art equipment enhances our patient’s dental treatment. Advanced equipment our office features include :

  • Digital X-rays and Digital Panoramic Imaging
  • LOGICON: computer enhanced cavity detection
  • DIAGNOdent: Laser caries detection
  • CariVu: Cavity detection through transillumination
  • Laser: Diode Laser for soft tissue management

Restorations/Fillings

At Newark Dental Associates, we strive to provide ideal treatment for each of our patients. Our goal is to provide a natural looking restoration with optimal function. Most teeth can be restored with tooth-colored composite resins.

Crowns/Caps

For larger cavities, fractured or broken teeth, a crown may be needed to restore your tooth to function. Crowns may be fabricated of several materials: gold, porcelain fused to gold, and all-porcelain.

Laser Treatment

We offer services in laser dentistry which can treat a multitude of tooth and gum issues. Our soft tissue laser can treat ulcers, canker sores, often not requiring anesthetics. Additionally, the laser ensures that minor gum surgeries such as aesthetic gum recontouring, crown lengthening, and frenectomies (tongue-tied reduction) have a comfortable and predictable outcome.

Dental Implants

Implants are the latest in restorative technology and are becoming the preferred procedure for restoring missing teeth. We perform thorough evaluations coordinate with a surgical specialist for placement of implant fixtures and provide final restorations for these implants.

Root Canal Treatment- Endodontics

Abscessed and degenerated nerves in teeth are often the cause of severe dental pain. A root canal treatment cleans out the infected nerves. After treatment, a crown may be recommended. Our doctors provide simple root canal treatment or will make the appropriate referral to a specialist.

Periodontal Disease

Did you know that periodontal disease has been linked to systemic diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes? Healthy gums and bones not only provide support for your teeth but also can be an indicator of your overall health. We provide periodontal assessments and make appropriate referrals when needed.

Fixed Bridges

These restorations, consisting of several crowns, can provide a form of treatment for replacing missing teeth. As with crowns, bridges can be fabricated with different materials, and are cemented in place.

Sleep Apnea Treatment and Oral Appliance

We specialize in the fabrication of oral appliances for the treatment of sleep apnea. We can screen and coordinate your treatment with a sleep physician.

Complete Dentures and Removable Partials

Our doctors fabricate high quality custom fitting dentures. In some cases, a combination of implants and dentures are an alternative treatment option. Partial dentures offer another option for replacing missing teeth. With advances in dentistry, partials can be fabricated not only in resin and metal but also in nylon and with tooth colored clasps for an improved cosmetic appearance.

Denture Repair and Reline

Ill-fitting dentures can often result in mouth sores, discomfort, and poor function. Removable partial and complete dentures need periodic inspections. Simple relines and adjustments may be the answer to keeping those dentures in your mouth rather than on the nightstand.

Veneers

Veneers have been very popular in recent years. Ask one of our doctors whether you are a candidate for this treatment.

Extractions

Our doctors perform tooth extractions. In some complicated cases, we will advise and refer to the appropriate specialists.

TMJ Therapy and Occlusal Guards/Night Guards

We diagnose and treat Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ/TMD), and work with specialists when necessary. We fabricate custom occlusal guards for TMJ problems and for clenching and grinding. For our physically active patients, we recommend custom sports guards to prevent traumatic dental injuries.

Tooth Whitening

Beautify your smile by simply brightening your teeth. We provide several different procedures and guidance to help you get a whiter smile. Options include in-office bleaching, take-home bleaching trays, and bleaching strips.
